The historic value
of the area is not the only reason to paddle here,
however. The launch base is located in the middle
of a relatively dense network of rivers that offer
many opportunities for a half day or full day of fun.
In addition to the Concord River that crosses the
Historic Park, and nearby Assabet River, paddlers
can explore the Sudbury River to the south of the
Boat House. In all cases, preserved river banks, abundance
of wildlife, and the absence of nautical challenges
(except a sometimes vigorous current near the boathouse)
make this area a great place for outdoors fun.
