| Set along
the shores of a 200-acre lake, Tully Lake Campground
in Royalston offers superb recreational opportunities
in a beautiful natural setting, while still providing
modern conveniences. You can make Tully your destination
for a relaxing weekend and just paddle around
Tully Lake, or use it as a base camp to explore
nearby waterfalls, scenic overlooks, and miles
of hiking and mountain bike trails, including
the 18-mile Tully Trail. |
 |
|
The campground
offers 35 well-spaced, walk-in tent-only campsites
(see side bar), including 16 waterfront sites
and two handicapped-accessible sites, each large
enough to comfortably accommodate two tents.
The coveted waterfront sites can be accessed
by canoe, and some sites will offer you great
fishing and swimming holes at your doorstep.
|
 |
|
A key advantage
of staying at Tully is the number of outdoors
recreational opportunities available: you can
rent a canoe or kayak at the campground (or
bring your own) to go paddling or fishing on
the 200-acre Tully Lake, Tully River, and Long
Pond. There are also over seven miles of nearby
mountain biking trails. If you prefer hiking,
you can explore the 18-mile Tully Trail, which
encircles the largely undeveloped Tully Valley.
From the summit of Tully Mountain to the cascading
waters of Doane's Falls, the trail connects
some of the region's most scenic properties
and views. Many of these properties are accessible
via shorter hikes for those who are not sure
they are up for the challenge of the full circuit.
|
 |
|
In addition
to these self-guided opportunities, many activities
are scheduled during the summer at the campground.
From guided hikes and edible plant walks to
birding classes and the junior ranger program,
these programs will bring you in contact with
expert naturalists from the area. Inquire when
making your reservation over the phone to know
what is happening on the days you will camp.
|
 |
|
The campground
features a centrally located modern bathhouse
with toilets, hot showers, drinking water, dish-washing
basin, and pay phone. Each site features a picnic
table, fireplace, and cooking grill; firewood
and ice are sold onsite. A Ranger is on duty
full-time during the season.
